Netflix Lands Jordan Peele, Keegan-Michael Key Stop-Motion Film From Henry Selick 4:00 PM PST 12/31/1969 by Mia Galuppo The duo will voice two demon brothers.
Netflix has landed the Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key stop-motion animation film Wendell And Wild.
The Key & Peele duo are set to voice two demon brothers in the feature from veteran animator Henry Selick, the director behind The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline.
The feature follows Wendell (Peele) and Wild (Key) as they are forced to face off against their arch-enemy in order to earn their way out of hell.
The streamer will finance and distribute the animation, which was first announced in 2015. Selick, Peele and Clay McLeod Chapman will write Wendell And Wild, based on a story by Selick.
Selick will also produce the animation, along with Peele via his Monkeypaw Productions banner and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein for The Gotham Group. Win Rosenfeld will exec produce for Monkeypaw, Peter Principato and Joel Zadak for Principato-Young, and Lindsay Williams and Eddie Gamarra for Gotham Group.
Key and Peele last worked together on the 2016 action comedy Keanu . Peele just won an Oscar for his feature Get Out and is set to re-team with Universal on another movie that he said will shoot this year. Key is next set for The Predator reboot and Disney’s The Lion King .
Netflix is set to release another stop-motion animation Bubbles , a Black List script detailing the life of the late Michael Jackson from the perspective of his beloved pet monkey that has Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi attached to co-direct.
